Seven Deadly Sins.
Sloth, Pride, Vanity, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, and Avarice. Yesterday I managed to complete two days of work - hence the slacking this early in the day - I'm rather proud of myself. An acquaintance informed me this morning that I look much prettier without my glasses - contacts today - I was touched, shortly after I wondered if I shouldn't go get LASIK surgery as my sister did so, like her, I wouldn't need to wear glasses anytime soon. I'm sitting in front of my computer with the remains of my second cup of coffee for the day and a large chocolate eclair of the sickening variety thinking a third cup would help me digest the eclair better. This evening I'm meeting a Brazilian guy - meet him on Mon, always enjoyed South American men - for drinks, which I kind of hope he pays for as I've a dress to buy. When the Seven Deadly Sins are mentioned in fan fiction, and pretty much everywhere else, each person is generally defined by a single sin. Granted there are certain sins which I'm more guilty of than others, but I regularly commit each and every one. When I'm required to list them in order I always put Pride first, generally because I consider it to be more encompassing, and Sloth last, generally because I'm anal and have energy to burn. My questions' then: why, particularly in fan fiction, do people highlight one sin and ignore all the others? Why can't characters/people indulge as much as I do? And why, when all but one of these sins are conducive to high productivity, are they considered sins at all? Current Mood: accomplished |

Accompanying Orchestra.
It's raining in Auckland this morning - not upset about it, I actually like rain - while on my way to work "Singing in the Rain" was playing in my head. I don't consider accompanying music to be all that unusual, for example whenever I'm on a mission I tend to go over "Eye of the Tiger", "The Bond Theme", or "Mission: Impossible" in my mind, but now I'm wondering if I'm in a minority or just plain weird. Anyone else travel with an imaginary orchestra then? Current Mood: contemplative |

As it's Christmas and I've not updated in an age...
I thought I'd both update my journal and encourage people to spare a thought for the "forgotten" this year, so here is a little piece I wrote to better inform certain people who once made some rather nasty comments about these poor misunderstood souls... The dreaded Easter Bunny!
Once a year the scourge of the health conscious visits and leaves in his wake a destructive path of empty chocolate wrappers and the warmth of guilty indulgence. Every year I plead, perhaps none too sincerely, that people do not encourage the evil bunny and gift me his despicable wares. ( Read more... ) Current Mood: guilty |

Stranger things have happened than me updating so close your mouths.
Well it's official: I am pissed off.
No doubt everyone knows Mel Gisbon's "The Passion of Christ" has come out - it's difficult to avoid it. I am not religious - never have been, never will be - I had thought this was a well-known fact.
Apparently not.
In the last few days I've had a lot of people ask me when I was going to see it, to each of them I politely replied that I had no intention of seeing - it doesn't interest me. Most didn't have a problem with that response, but two people - both deeply religious - felt compelled to argue with me.
Now normally I enjoy arguing with people, but when it comes to religion I try to avoid it - people tend to get personal. One of these two people got very personal.
I have never attempted to force my belief's, or lack thereof, on others and while I listened to this person telling me how disrespectful and narrow-minded I was - not even considering going to see this picture - I was thinking about how nice it would be if they could show me the same courtesy I do them.
Wouldn't it be lovely if they could respect my right not to believe as they do?
My grandfather knew the bible back to front; he was catholic, he was also one of the biggest assholes to ever walk the face of the earth and yet - according to this so-called friend, he is likely to be in heaven and I am heading straight to hell. Frankly, if he is the type of person they let into heaven I'd rather be in hell. Naturally, such opinions just makes me all the more despicable a human being - luckily I'd rather be despicable than be a hypocrite.
I really am sick of people shoving religion down my throat and then bitching about how inconsiderate and narrow-minded I am. Religion is private and should be kept that way. |

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Well I'm in an usually happy mood today - probably due to lack of sleep and being back home. I sincerely hope everyone has a fabulous holiday and gets everything they desire. I'd offer hugs if I didn't think it would kill me. *wink* |

Did the test. you are khaki #F0E68C | Your dominant hues are red and green, so you're definately not afraid to get in and stir things up. You have no time for most people's concerns, you'd rather analyze with your head than be held back by some random "gut feeling".
Your saturation level is lower than average - You don't stress out over things and don't understand people who do. Finishing projects may sometimes be a challenge, but you schedule time as you see fit and the important things all happen in the end, even if not everyone sees your grand master plan.
Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
